Local, browser-based processing
Most tools on ToolNova run entirely inside your web browser using JavaScript. When a tool page explicitly states that processing happens in your browser, your files and text are never uploaded to our servers — they are read, transformed and downloaded locally on your device. We only describe a tool as “local” or “private” when this is genuinely how it works.
Tools that use external APIs
A small number of tools (for example currency conversion, IP information, or URL shortening) require data from a third-party service to function. On those specific tool pages we clearly disclose that a request is sent to an external provider. No uploaded file content is sent to third parties without a clear on-page notice.
Advertising
ToolNova may display advertisements served by Google AdSense and/or Adsterra, depending on the placement. These networks and their partners may use cookies and similar technologies, including scripts that run in your browser, to serve and measure ads based on your visits to this and other websites. Some ad formats (such as a social bar or popunder) can open additional browser windows or tabs when clicked. You can control Google ad personalization through Google Ads Settings.
Analytics
If enabled, we use Google Analytics to understand aggregate usage patterns, such as which tools are most popular. Analytics is only loaded when a measurement ID is configured, and it does not have access to the content of files you process.
Cookies and local storage
We use your browser's local storage (not cookies) to remember your favorites, recently used tools, recent searches and theme preference. This data stays on your device and is never transmitted to us. Advertising and analytics providers may set their own cookies as described above.
Data retention
Because processing happens locally, we do not retain your files. Any data sent to an external API for a specific tool is subject to that provider's own retention policy, which we link to on the relevant tool page where applicable.
