Image Metadata Viewer

Every image file carries structural information alongside its pixel data: width and height in pixels, the overall file size on disk, the format or container it's stored in, and the ratio between its dimensions. This tool reads that information directly from the file using the browser's own image decoding, which is useful whenever you need a quick answer without opening the file in a full editor just to check its properties.

Aspect ratio and megapixel count matter for practical reasons beyond curiosity: a platform's upload requirements might specify a minimum resolution or a particular ratio like 16:9 or 1:1, and knowing the exact pixel dimensions up front saves a failed upload attempt. Comparing file size against dimensions also gives a rough sense of how heavily an image has been compressed — a large file size for relatively small dimensions usually indicates low compression or an inefficient format choice.

This tool intentionally sticks to basic file properties rather than full EXIF data. Camera EXIF metadata is a separate, much larger block of information that can include camera model, exposure settings, timestamps, and sometimes GPS coordinates — none of which is read or displayed here, since the focus is on the practical properties most people need for web and design work.
