About Image to PDF
This tool builds a PDF page for each image you upload, embedding JPGs and PNGs by the mechanism native to each format — JPG data is carried through with its existing lossy compression intact, while PNG data is embedded losslessly, pixel for pixel. Mixing both in one document is straightforward because a PDF page simply references whichever image object it needs; there's no requirement that every page in a document use the same underlying image format.
That flexibility is useful when a single PDF needs to combine different kinds of source material — a lossless screenshot alongside a photographed document, or a scanned signature page next to a rendered chart — without converting everything to one format first. Reordering before conversion lets you set the final page sequence up front.
Because PNG and JPG compress very differently, file size contributions from each page can vary a lot even when the images look similar in size on screen: a photo saved as PNG will typically be much larger than the same photo saved as JPG. And since each page is sized to its own image's dimensions, a batch of images with different aspect ratios will produce a PDF with differently sized pages rather than a uniform layout.
