ToolNova

IP Information

Check the public IP address your device is currently browsing from.

This shows only your own public IP address, not detailed geolocation or lookups for arbitrary IP addresses.

How It Works

  1. 1Your public IP is looked up automatically from a third-party service.
  2. 2Your browser's timezone and language are read locally.

Features

  • Instant public IP lookup
  • Timezone and language detection

Privacy

This tool sends a request to a third-party IP lookup service (ipify.org) to determine your public IP address. No other data is transmitted.

About IP Information

Every device connected to the internet is reachable through a public IP address, but for most home and mobile connections that address belongs to your internet service provider and is shared or reassigned over time rather than permanently tied to your device. Behind a home router, every device on the network typically shares the same public IP through NAT (Network Address Translation), which is why this tool reports one address regardless of how many phones, laptops or smart devices are on the same Wi-Fi.

Checking your public IP is useful for practical tasks: confirming a VPN connection actually changed your address, setting up port forwarding or remote access rules, whitelisting an address on a firewall, or diagnosing why a service thinks you're connecting from an unexpected network. This tool also reads your browser's timezone and language locally, which can be handy context when debugging locale-specific behavior on a site.

This tool itself doesn't perform any geolocation lookup — it only reports your raw public IP address, along with your browser's own timezone and language settings. Full IP-based geolocation, offered by other dedicated services, is approximate at best: it maps IP address ranges to a physical location based on where the range was originally registered or allocated, which is often accurate only to the city or region level and can be outright wrong for mobile carriers, VPNs, or connections using carrier-grade NAT. It is not the same as GPS and should never be relied on as an exact or guaranteed location.

Frequently Asked Questions

No — this tool only reports your public IP address; it doesn't perform any geolocation lookup at all. Dedicated IP geolocation services infer a city or region from where an ISP registered a block of addresses, not your exact location, so even those are commonly accurate only to the city or region level and can be off, especially on mobile networks or behind a VPN.
