About PDF to PNG
PNG stores every pixel's exact value using lossless compression, so unlike JPG it never trades detail for a smaller file. When a PDF page is rendered to PNG, sharp edges — text, ruled lines, flat-colored diagrams — come out identical to how they appear on screen, with none of the softening or ringing artifacts that lossy compression can introduce around high-contrast boundaries.
That makes it the better choice for pulling a diagram, chart, screenshot, or technical drawing out of a PDF for reuse in documentation, a presentation, or a website, where crisp edges matter more than file size. It's less well suited to photographic content: because PNG doesn't exploit the kind of smooth color gradients JPEG is built for, a photo-heavy page will produce a noticeably larger file than the same page saved as JPG.
As with any rasterization, the conversion flattens the page into pixels, so text becomes part of the image rather than staying selectable, and the resulting page has no transparency — PDF pages are rendered onto a solid background, not an alpha channel.
