About Email QR Generator
An email QR code encodes a mailto: URI, the same link scheme used in mailto: hyperlinks on web pages: mailto:address@example.com?subject=Hello&body=Message+text. The recipient address goes right after mailto:, and the optional subject and body are added as encoded query parameters, with spaces turned into + and other special characters percent-encoded. When a phone camera recognizes the mailto: scheme it offers to open the device's default mail app with a new message already addressed and, if provided, pre-filled with a subject and body, saving the person scanning it from typing the address correctly by hand.
This is commonly used on business cards, contact pages printed on posters, feedback stations, support desks, and event signage, where you want a fast, error-free way for someone to start an email without them having to note down or retype an address that's easy to mistype. Pre-filling a subject line is also a simple way to route replies — for example tagging inquiries from a specific flyer or booth.
Keep in mind the QR code only launches whatever mail app is configured as default on the scanning device — if the person hasn't set one up, nothing will open. Special characters in the subject or body need URL encoding to display correctly, and very long pre-filled messages make the QR code denser and slightly slower to scan, so it's best kept to a short subject and a brief message rather than a full email body.
