About JSON Minifier
Minifying JSON removes every character that isn't required to preserve the data — indentation, line breaks, and spaces around colons and commas. Since JSON's grammar treats that whitespace as purely cosmetic, stripping it has no effect on how the data parses; it only reduces the number of bytes needed to represent the same structure.
That byte reduction matters most when JSON is transmitted or stored at volume — an API response embedded in an HTML page, a config blob saved in a database column, or a payload sent over a slow connection. For anything performance- or bandwidth-sensitive, sending a minified payload rather than a nicely indented one avoids paying for formatting that no machine actually needs.
Minification is one-way in the sense that the removed whitespace can't be recovered exactly, though a formatter can reintroduce consistent indentation afterward. It's a good idea to keep the readable version in source control and generate the minified version at build or deploy time, rather than editing minified JSON by hand.
